If you read any Young Adult fiction (at all) you've noticed that it tends to be dark. End of the world, zombies, vampires, high school - you name it, it's almost always dark.
So it's fun to come across a light read once in a while. This landed on my desk today:
"Scorned in her Flatlands village because of a deformed foot, Emmeline Thistle's life changes when she is taken in by Wanderlands dairy farmers and discovers her magical ability to make chocolate, which is more precious and rare than gold or jewels in the kingdom of Anglund."
A magical ability to make chocolate? Sounds fantastic to me!
I'm not going to read it (at least not right away) because I've already got five or so books at home. So come check it out, let us know what you think!
You can find it in the library's catalog here.
