Everywhere I went during the past week people were talking about The Hunger Games movie. And with good reason.
Last Friday's movie opening broke all sorts of records with an incredible $155 million dollars in ticket sales on opening weekend (click here for NY Times article). I talked to people who've gone twice already, and it was all over the news and the radio.
And for good reason - what an amazing movie! I know not everyone loved it (click here for a meh review) but most reviews were really good (click here for the San Jose Mercury News review, which was fantastic).
Here at the library we have so many holds that I just ordered another ten copies of the book - bringing our total to 30 copies in the regular collection plus 8 copies in our Friend's Collection. That's the most copies of any one book I've ever ordered!
Given that there's probably going to be three more movies (apparently Woody Harrelson, who plays Haymitch, confirmed in an interview that there's going to be a total of four movies) we have a lot more to look forward to!
If you want to add your name to the hold queue for the first book in the series go here.
