So I know this is the Teen Zone blog and I wouldn't normally talk about children's books, but I just read a great article about how Dr. Seuss got his start in publishing.
How Dr. Seuss Got His Start 'On Mulberry Street'
Two things really struck me about this article - how many times Dr Seuss' submissions to publishers were rejected before he got his break (it reminds me of this story I read about Amanda Hocking,) and how completely random the situation was that led to his big break.
I guess it just goes to show that life is random and you've got to keep on trying!
Summer is Here! (well, not really...)
But our teen summer program schedule is really here!
We've got a fantastic lineup of summer programs for kids in grades 6-12 (including kids who will be in 6th grade in the fall) and always all of our programs are FREE!!!
Some of our programs happen every week and there's no need to sign up, but the rest of the programs happen just once and you have to register in advance. Click here to check out the list of programs and follow the links from each program to get to the registration page (registration starts on June 1).
