Life Imitates Art

The news today about the volcanic ash that is covering much of Europe is reminding me of the story in Susan Beth Pfeffer's "Life As We Knew It" and it's kind of freaking me out. [Plot summary - Through journal entries sixteen-year-old Miranda describes her family's struggle to survive after a meteor hits the moon, causing worldwide tsunamis, earthquakes, and volcanic eruptions.]

We just got the sequel, "This World We Live In", which takes place one year after the asteroid contact with the moon in the first book. I haven't had a chance to read it, but I'd love to hear from any of you who have!

  1. In regards to the volcano, and the closure of many airports in Europe, here is something local that has been affected: Mountain View High School Madrigals stuck in Paris since last Friday with a bill of nearly $50,000.
